How Many Leads on a Holter Monitor ?

Holter monitoring is a non-invasive test that can be used to diagnose and monitor certain cardiac conditions. It involves wearing the device (Holter monitor) around your chest for 24 hours while performing typical daily activities. The device records your heart rhythm during this period of time.

Most Holter systems recommend a minimum of three ECG holter lead wires, but five or more may be necessary to obtain optimal information from the study. This will vary depending on how many leads you need to diagnose an abnormality and what lead placement is most appropriate for your condition.
